It's been a while

Okay...so I'm not as faithful as I would like to be. However, I do have news. I have successfully completed the interview portion of the alternative licensure program to be an Oklahoma teacher. Hooray! Now, on to the waiting for my license to arrive in the mail and studying for addition subject areas. In June I'm taking the US History/OK Hist/Govt/Economics test and the English test. Now, maybe I can get a job soon!!!

So...I want to be a Teacher???

Ok...I really, really want to be a teacher. But, for some strange reason I've kinda been dragging my feet on getting the remaining paperwork taken care of. I know...I've wanted this for so long and now that I'm so close I feel like I'm all scared and confused again. I believe being a teacher is what God has planned for my life, I guess I'm just scared. You know me...afraid of change. Anyway, what I'd really like to do is teach English or Speech (or both) for a year or two and then become a school librarian. I love literature and would love to have a way to share that with the young people of today. I know I have a unique perspective. Not to offend, but I believe that teachers who have only ever been teachers lose some of the aspects of the "other" world. I hestitated when typing other because it is hard to explain what I mean. Some teachers I know, well...most teachers I know complain about having to stay at school until 3:30...whoa...sometimes I have to stay at work until 9 or 10! I mean, as a teacher, at the end of the day (even if it has been a long one) you still get to go home and feel as if you've done something. At the end of the day, I get to go home and know that what I've done hasn't made any impact in the world. Okay, so the bank statements got balanced...so what? Even if just one of my students has one of those "ah-ha" moments, gosh....it'll all be worth it. I guess what I'm saying is that I want a job, nay, career that has some intrinsic value. It would have been so much easier to have decided to become a teacher while I was drinking my college years (and student loans) away!

Gotta Love Wednesdays!!

Finally, Wednesday has arrived. Wednesday is my favorite day of the week. Why? you ask. First of all, it's fun to say and spell. Secondly, it's payday. Thirdly, when Wednesday rolls around it means that the week is half over!!! Lastly, but certainly not leastly, it means that I get to reconnect with all my friends from church. Especially if I've been out of town and missed them on Sunday (like this week). I get to catch up on my hugs. Plus, we have a really great Ladies Bible Class. Lately, we've really grown...mostly because we've started opening up to each other!!!

Is the Laundry Done....well, of course not!

So, it's been a few hours and I'm sure the question on your mind is....is the laundry finished? Crap no! I've been not so patiently bemoaning the relative worth of a gas dryer over an electric one. I still don't know which one is faster. To tell you the truth of the matter, I only use an electric dryer when I'm at my parents house and I have to say, it's much quicker. Then again it is the new kind that you can stuff a billion pair of jeans in, so why wouldn't it be quicker than the 1984 gas model at my house? Note to self: when I finally buy or build my own house...be sure and get a good washer and dryer. Maybe there is some kind of place that can tell me what the average cycle time is for both....help me out here.

In the "tween" times, I've been watching TV...are we between seasons or what??? None of the shows I regulary watch were on. So...I guess I should have used the time to inventory my books and movies or something. OH well....

About jeans...I only own one pair. Does this make me weird? I don't know if there is any reason for this other than the fact that I believe denim makes me even more hot than I am all the time. Why would I put on something that makes me sweat?!?!?!?!?! It's khakis and ultra-casual cargo pants for this old girl. Fashion according to Christy is simple...any kind of natural fabric cargo pants and a great T-shirt with no stains or holes...finish it off with coordinating sneakers and off you go! And yes, I only have about....well, let's just say that I can see 6 pairs of sneakers from where I'm sitting. I do have a very good reason for this...see my weight loss blog and you'll soon see that I'm on track to kill myself before next week! No really, I'm walking to lose weight. I bought two new pairs of shoes last weekend "just for walking." We'll see.

Whoooooooooeeeeeeee!!! I just heard the dryer buzzer. I may be finished with laundry for tonight!!!

Laundry really stinks!

I'm doing mucho laundry. Why does it take so long to do laundry? Why doesn't someone invent a washing/drying machine (yes, just one combo machine that does both) that only takes about 15 minutes? I know I would pay lots for it. Because there are 5 adults livings in this house, it seems like the washer is always full. I usually only do laundry once a week because it takes me that long to get a full load of everything. Arggghhhhh! So...if you get to looking for me...raid the laundry room....I'll be passed out between the lint tray and the Gain.

The first one...

Hey all. Just started this new blog. I have my own website (check out www.christyflowers.com) and was trying to do some blogging there, but it was way too much time and trouble to update it via ftp every day, so I didn't do it. Anyway, stole the regular blog idea from my friend Kim Mauck. Anyway....here's hoping that y'all find this interesting. I picked the name "Yes, that's what I said" because I write like I speak for the most part . I'm from Southeastern Oklahoma and while I do have great grammar skills, I rarely use them. But, I want to be a teacher (of English, no doubt!) so I guess I better tone up the skills. Stay tuned for more of what I said...
